Objectified Trailer

Finally. I have high expectations for this movie, if I had a nickel for every designer that I’ve talked to about the fantasy movie that explains and enlightens the public about the the design and production processes that go into everything in our lives…

My roommate just got a copy of his Bay Area Graffiti book (congrats)! I’m excited that I’ll get my soon: http://tinyurl.com/7t8s8w

Next year make that holiday card out of something unique!

It was nice to recieve paper cards from friends and associates, but it was inspiring to recieve the following creative alternatives:

Smart made it out of people.

Tinker.it generated it.
(They then sent out beautiful snowflake cards using Moo.com)

Tellart made it make music (and they let you do it too).

The Mullers told a story with it.

Crayon Physics, coming to my iPhone soon… http://tinyurl.com/8fbmjl

I often think of online communities and applications as testing grounds for their analog counterparts. It’s possible to try out new ways of interacting, new personalities or new social structures first online, to understand the dynamics, then port that to the offline world. In a recently published MacArthur study it’s shown that teens develop valuable social skills through the use of online social networks.

It also points out that those same teens are also “facing new challenges in how to manage their visibility and social relationships online. Online media, messages, and profiles that young people post can travel beyond expected audiences and are often difficult to eradicate after the fact.” I feel their pain.

Cleaning up after Fancy Holiday party. Impressed at lack of any drinkables or edibles remaining.
Her calm control is an auspicious thing indeed, and a key trait of my ideal leader…
Great examples of the elegant use of material properties in product design (thanks @jgebbia): http://tinyurl.com/6k59kb
